History is not
a costume.
It is a standard.
Cupples & Leon is writing a new chapter in a name that has belonged to American publishing history for more than a century.
Preserving the spirit of publishing craft without reproducing the limitations of another era.
The original Cupples & Leon was founded in New York in 1902 by Victor I. Cupples and Arthur T. Leon, building a catalogue of series fiction, children's literature, and illustrated books that created returning readers. In 2012, under new ownership, that heritage was revived to inform a modern identity built around editorial development, thoughtful design, contemporary distribution, and author visibility.

What makes the
revival meaningful.
01
Heritage with clarity
We distinguish the documented history of the original house from the work of the modern company.
02
Standards before slogans
We focus on the manuscript, production quality, reader experience, and verifiable outcomes.
03
Author involvement
You remain an active decision-maker throughout editorial, design, production, and launch stages.
04
A long-view catalogue
We build books, series, and author platforms designed to remain discoverable beyond launch week.
“A book becomes lasting when every decision serves the work.”
Our ideal is not nostalgia. It is continuity: the care of traditional publishing combined
with the access, intelligence, and responsiveness available today.
